Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
