Cars in German Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were alerted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Police state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking representative stated the attack made him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
